Alcatraz and Bus Tour

Up early today thanks to jet lag. Had a nice breakfast at the hotel at about 7am then off to Alcatraz for the 0845 tour. The crossing only took 15 mins and was quite busy - we were told tickets are hard to get hold of so lucky we booked in the UK. The experience was great and the audio tour really interesting. I can remember some of it from 25 years ago but I don't recall the immense gift shop!

The only strange thing here is the smell of weed in the streets. It is legal here but very odd to keep getting wafts of it now and again. It almost smells like beer (which is what we thought it was at first).

This afternoon we took the bus tour - really is a great way to see the city for a reasonable price. Every neighbourhood is so different and the financial district really reminds me of New York. Feeling a bit tired now but going to push through it. Overall we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves.
